The Vision

The original idea for this butter came from the desire to create a scent to demonstrate my appreciation for a friend whose name is Manami. My second to last semester at University was emotionally challenging and she was someone who helped me stay afloat by listening and validating my pain. I wanted the scent to reflect this haven she created with her compassion. When I started envisioning the scent, I looked at her name for inspiration. To my surprise her name MANAMI has two meanings in Japanese. The way the characters are written determine the meaning even though they both sound the same. One meaning is: The love of beauty. While the other is: The love of the sea.
From understanding what her name meant, the vision grew into something more. I wanted the scent to be an homage to people like her that I have been fortunate to meet. To reflect on how nature reminds me of the beauty in this world. As well as the sea, which consoles and heals me. Traveling enabled me to witness breathtaking forests, lucious jungles, and beautiful beaches. I’ve experienced cultures that have expanded my understanding of humanity.
Ultimately, the story of Manami will be told in three parts in the form of travelogues that depict observations and impressions. The scent is to invite you to invest further in the experience.
