Arthur Suites (2022)
Experience work in UI/UX writing for Arthur Suite’s new collection in Bali, Indonesia. I approached the founder and art director Liv to ask her if I could help with writing the description for the clothing pieces.

Case Study
I approached the founder and creative director by demonstrating where there was room for improvement. Some of the text needed more clarification, so some rewriting was done. Additionally, I commented on the number of articles per line on the page.

Organization of Garments
I worked with the excel document with the names of all the garments and used the images provided. I found it was easier to organize by category on a word document. Some items had similar descriptions, safe for the print. The challenge was maintaining a consistent voice and style of the text. I suggested to keep the descriptions at 5 lines.

Communication
Due to the tight schedule of the director, I completed the writing project without ever meeting with the director. This experience taught me how to communicate more effectively. For instance, I left her notes at the end of my draft, which she clarified in an email. Furthermore, in the beginning, I was not sure what she wanted. I took the initiative to present a small draft of what I thought and asked for feedback. This prompted her to write her needs with an example.

Example 1
I acquired the proper term of the collar and opening from the director. For these technical terms, my process involved cross referencing with other brands and studying how they wrote their descriptions.

Example 2
For the double layer jersey knit, I had to depend on the initial description provided by the director. As I was doing this remotely, I never got the opportunity to touch or see the clothing upfront. I think this would have made a difference in the writing process. I followed my instinct and previous knowledge on garments due to retail experience to visualize.

Example 3
Similar to example 2, as I never saw the clothing upfront, it was not possible to see the Godet inserts in the sleeves. I followed the directors edit to my draft. Lettuce hem is another technical term, that I was not familiar with. Through cross referencing, I was able to understand the wide use of the term.

Example 4
I researched the name of the pattern and the description of the waistband. I had suggested zebra pattern, which was omitted in the final copy. It is very likely that not everything you propose will make it to the final version, but regardless it is important to write out your ideas.
